Rwanda in 2004

March 22, 2011

Back in grad school—in Pullman, Washington—we had no cable or any kind of television subscription. Dinosaurs still roamed the earth back then, and we only had a 12″ box with a built-in VHS player. The only station that came through at all was the Public Broadcasting System. On weeknights, Charlie Rose was welcome company many an evening. While I don’t think we saw this episode when it ran live, I’ve since been impressed with the intelligent discussion of the state of Rwanda ten years after the genocide.

In the coming weeks, I’d like to explore the history of Rwanda and more recent developments.
