Tapering

Today’s ride: 46km—Cedar Springs Rd.

Weather: Sunny, warm

After a long, cold winter and a long, wet spring, summer has been beautiful so far. Sunny and warm. The humidity has been limited. And another ride this morning. My hip has been bothering me slightly the last couple of days, and it felt particularly sore as I got started. Up Valley Rd. was fine, but not comfortable. I never really got into a decent rhythm, although my speed must have been fine. I felt a bit better by Snake Rd., and went up in the big ring—and a good pace. Nice to have the legs and lungs to really attack that slow, winding climb.

After feeling particularly strong this week, I didn’t feel as good today, but that might have had as much to do with the big breakfast in my belly and fatigue at the end of the week. I felt fine on the bike, although—Snake Rd. notwithstanding—I didn’t feel nearly as invincible as I did on Monday.

Today was a recovery ride, then, I suppose…
